My Lady Inspiration’s daughter, who was born deaf, received cochlear implants in 2005 and can now hear. As I started to write about the Scottish Brownie I needed a name for the heroine. I asked my friend and she, in turn, asked her daughter if I could borrow the daughter’s name. The young lady was named in honor of a European Queen and gave me permission to use her name in the stories only if the girl in the story becomes a queen. (Talk about a major condition!)
Fabiola’s first adventure! An evil witch has kidnapped Fabiola’s mother and little sister. Fabiola would have been captured also but the brownie that lived in Fabiola’s kitchen came to the rescue. Fabiola is totally deaf and must rely on the brownie and a new friend as she tries to free her family.
She discovers that her new friend is deaf also, but he has a way of communicating with her – a sign language that he learned in a school. The school’s teacher was a princess – could she be the princess from ‘The Deaf Prince’?
Aside from the bigger problem of finding a publisher – there is a small problem with this story. I need a name for the brownie. The name I used while writing it is in reality the name of a major European company. Since I don’t want a lawsuit I need a new name.
If you have a suggestion for his name would you please send me a message please. Who knows, yours might be the right name for this little hero.
Dank,
Tom
